Creating Safe and Secure Spaces for Transracial Adoptive Children and Families

Raising children of color in today’s society has become increasingly challenging since just before and after the election on November 2016.  This workshop will explore and discuss how parents can help support, advocate and be allies for their children (and others) at young ages and teach children how to advocate for themselves as they age.  For adoptees and children with backgrounds of trauma are at current greater risk of being triggered, and can cause mood dysregulation.  This highly interactive workshop will provide attendees with new insights and skills on how to support children that can be applied in school, community and faith-based settings.
