Serenity During a Tornado: Maintaining Acceptance and Empathy in the Eye of the Storm

While being an adoptive parent can be very a meaningful and rewarding experience, at the same time it can be very taxing on us emotionally, mentally, and physically. Sometimes our relationships suffer and we lose our sense of acceptance and empathy. Thane will draw from his personal experience as an adoptive parent, and his work with adopted adolescents for the last 20 years, to help us bring meaning to the chaos, to help us bring some degree of sanity to being an adoptive parent, and to help us regain our ability to be accepting and empathic. In this presentation, we will do some activities to make sense of our some of our real-life situations, and we will get practical tools to use during chaotic and sometimes out-of-control situations that required us to manage our kids.
