Barbara is a psychotherapist with House Calls Counseling. She is a graduate of Governor’s State University in University Park, Illinois, where she received a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Arts in Community Counseling and Psychology. Barbara has over 20 years of professional experience and has held a variety of positions working in foster care, child welfare and crisis center agencies. She has served as an educator for at-risk youth, a foster home licensing specialist, a case worker, parent and staff trainer, parent support group facilitator, program coordinator, alcohol and substance abuse counselor, psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and facility manager. Barbara has worked in many different settings and with culturally diverse individuals and families. Her clinical experience ranges from providing psychotherapy in office-based and in-home treatment foster care programs for children, and teens living in group homes, to providing trauma-informed crisis response at a hospital emergency room for survivors of sexual violence.
Barbara works with individuals, couples and youth who are struggling socially and emotionally due to abuse, neglect, or attachment disruptions, and their families. She also specializes in working with survivors of sexual violence and continues to facilitate professional training in trauma-informed crisis response for the state coalition in Springfield. Barbara works in the western and southern suburbs.
