Kurt A. Wulfekuhler, Ph.D., LPCC, is the Clinical Director at Sandhill Child Development Center in Los Lunas, New Mexico. Sandhill is a long term residential treatment center working with children and young adolescents with a variety of significant problems, all manifesting some difficulties with emotional regulation. Dr. Wulfekuhler has over thirty years of experience working in residential treatment, treatment foster care, inpatient psychiatric hospital programs, partial hospital programs, and outpatient therapy. He has a long term interest in the clinical implications of attachment theory and is currently in the final level of training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (developed by Pat Ogden), a treatment model that includes both trauma and attachment perspectives. Dr. Wulfekuhler has been particularly instrumental in integrating Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics to provide a developmentally and trauma informed treatment approach throughout the therapeutic milieu at Sandhill. He is a Certified Sensorimotor Psychotherapist.
